Approximately 429 Square Kilometres in size, Phuket is the only island bigger than Koh Chang in Thailand. Just 8km of water separates Koh Chang from Trat Province right on the Cambodian Border.
The popular beach destinations are found on the west coast of the island such as Hat Sai Khao. Whilst the East coast does attract tourism there is very little in the way of sandy beaches there making lazy days by the sea unlikely. The roads around the island are not quite at the standard of the mainland but traveling around the island is easily accessible.
